Hi! I'm Reno Barrera. My wife and I have been living in the Atlanta/North Ga area since we got married in 2015. In high school, I worked at a veterinarian’s office and I knew then that I loved working with dogs. Over the course of our marriage, we have fostered puppies, and have ended up adopted four dogs ourselves. We have a Husky, a German Shepheard, a Poodle mix, and a Lab-Pit mix. All of our dogs have very big personalities, and all bring their own unique attitude to the pack. Bella, our husky, was our first dog that we adopted (actually through our good friend, Brittany Smith!) Bella, being our first, got more training and structure. However, as our pack grew, structure flew out of the window and I knew we were in over our heads. We didn’t have bad dogs, but we also didn’t have obedient dogs. We were limited in what we could do with our dogs in our day to day lives. We could never take all four in public, such as down town or to farmers markets. We would stress taking them camping with us. They had to be put up when we had guest over. We loved our pack and we wanted a way to do more life with them. About a year ago, Brittany began to introduce me to the 2nd Chance K9 program. She knows my love for dogs and, after I worked on our own dogs, thought I would be a good fit for the program. I started with 2nd Chance K9 early summer of 2022. I am so excited to officially be a part of the 2nd Chance K9 Family!
