My name is Rachael Smith and I am a trainer here at 2nd Chance k9 training. I have always loved dogs and had so many dogs growing up. I married into the Smith family and when Brittany and I became sister-in-laws, I started spending more time with her and watching her train dogs. Just being around her while she was training I became fascinated. She eventually offered to train me and have me shadow her to learn more. I shadowed her for about a year, learning so much and working with all sorts of dogs including my own. Kirby, my red heeler has a rough past and was basically left to fend for herself for the first 6 months of her life. She had no human interaction and because of her insecure personality, she did not trust humans at first. Brittany worked with her for a while and when I felt comfortable and started learning more about dog psychology, I took over Kirby’s training. Kirby and I have an amazing relationship now and it has been incredible seeing her work through her insecurities and learn to trust people more and more. Seeing the progress in my own dogs has made me want to help others in similar situations. I have a passion for educating owners and helping them make their dogs apart of their every day lives along with helping dogs become their best selves.
